The Love Dare - Day 11: Love Cherishes
" What need does your spouse have that you could meet today? Can you run an errand? Give a back rub or foot massage? Is there housework you could help with? Choose a gesture that says, "I cherish you" and do it with a smile."
Naiisip niyo bang naiisip ko? *wink* *wink*

The Love Dare - Day 10
The Love Dare - Day 10: Love is Unconditional
"Do something out of the ordinary today for your spouse - something that proves (to you and to them)that your love is based on your choice and nothing else. Wash her car. Clean the kitchen. Buy his favorite dessert. Fold the laundry. Demonstrate love to them for the sheer joy of being their partner in marriage."

The Love Dare - Day 8
The Love dare - Day 8: Love is not Jealous
"Determine to become your spouse's biggest fan and to reject any thoughts of jealousy. To help you set your heart on your spouse and focus on their achievements, take yesterday's list of negative attributes and discreetly burn it. Then share with your spouse how glad you are about a success he or she recently enjoyed."

The Love Dare - Day 7
The Love Dare - Day 7: Love Believes the Best
"For today's dare, get two sheets of paper. On the first one, spend a few minutes writing out positive things about your spouse. Then do the same thing with negative things on the second sheet. Place both sheets in a secret place for another day. There is a different purpose and plan for each. At some point during the remainder of the day, pick a positive attribute from the first list and thank your spouse for having this characteristic."

The Love Dare - Day 6
Obviously, I failed to stay devoted to my devotional, but for the benefit of those who are trying, I'll try to post all the challenges in this blog. Hopefully, I can read back someday and actually be able to get into the program.
For now, here is day 6.
The Love Dare - Day 6: Love is not Irritable
"Choose today to react to tough circumstances in your marriage in loving ways instead of with irritation. Begin by making a list of areas where you need to add margin to your schedule. Then list any wrong motivations that you need to release from your life."
Hm... bagay sa akin 'to. Esep esep....

The Love Dare - Day 5
Yikes, I'm really bad at this challenge. I'm still stuck with "Love is Patient". I want to blame the weather, kaya lang umulan na today. Haha... :D Earlier, sinusungitan ko si Jovel when he was asking me why I'm not taking up MS Stat. He was actually thinking about what further studies I should be pursuing. I told him that there are a lot of things that I want to learn about but none of them seems to be worth spending the time and tuition for. Siguro di niya ma-gets because that was not what I really meant, of course worth naman ng time and money yung mga gusto kong matutunan. What I really meant to say was pwede ko naman silang pag-aralan sa labas ng classroom, di ba?
Anyway, for those who are still following, here's dare#5
The Love Dare - Day 5 : Love is not Rude
"Ask your spouse to tell you three things that cause him or her to be uncomfortable or irritated with you. You must do so without attacking them or justifying your behavior. This is from their perspective only."
Hm... Na-try ko na, as in while typing this entry. Medyo mahirap ha. :D
For those who are asking where I got The Love Dare challenge, I got it from The Love Dare Book by Stephen and Alex Kendrick.
I gotta go. Jovel and I are attending the Team Gordon-Bayani Ortigas EB. Tonight at Starbucks, Metrowalk. Everyone's invited. :D

The Love Dare - Day 4
Sorry for the long absence. Grabeng ka-busy-han namin ni Jovel this past week. I've been working on two theses, that's why I haven't been able to post. Parang ang rami pang kailangang gawin, while there's too little time. I'm planning to go on vacation by April 15. Hopefully, marami na kaming nagawang pera by that time. Oo, para kaming BSP, gumagawa ng pera. : p
So kumusta naman ang mga love darers? Sorry for leaving you hanging. I didn't realize na five days na pala since my last post. Frankly, stuck pa rin ako sa dare # 1 - Love is Patient. I hope I can finally get on the program with the theses out of the way.So here goes dare # 4. Oh, I love this one! :D
The Love Dare - Day 4: Love is Thoughtful
"Contact your spouse sometime during the business of the day. Have no agenda other than asking how he or she is doing and if there is anything you could do for them?"
Have a blessed day everyone! :D

The Love Dare - Day 3
Sorry for posting this late. I was hoping to post this immediately after a blog entry I was writing earlier but some things came up. So I end up not finishing the blog entry and not posting today's challenge. Anyway, here goes The Love Dare - Day 3
The Love Dare - Day 3: Love is Not Selfish
"Whatever you put time, energy and money into will become more important to you. It's hard to care for something that you are not investing in. Along with restraining from negative comments, buy your spouse something that says, "I was thinking of you today."

The Love Dare - Day 2
I'm planning to re-take Day 1 of the Love Dare. Not that I failed miserably yesterday, but I don't think Jovel gave me enough chance to test my patience. o di ba, parang ang bait ng asawa ko. :)
Taking the "Love is Patient" dare yesterday made me conscious of my words and actions towards my husband. I realized that despite being more diplomatic when it comes to dealing with other people, I'm the one who's more impatient when it is just the two of us. Although I did not say anything negative, I found myself being sarcastic and "mataray" on several occasions. Bakit kung anong ikinabait ko sa ibang tao, siyang ikinataray ko sa asawa ko. Don't you sometimes feel this way, parang OK lang magtaray sa asawa, boyfriend, anak, kasama sa bahay or anyone close to you but not to co-workers or acquaintances? Hay... parang mali.
For those who were able to complete the first dare, congratulations! Here's dare # 2.
The Love Dare - Day 2: Love is Kind
"In addition to saying nothing negative to your spouse again today, do at least one unexpected gesture as an act of kindness."
Uy, exciting! :)

The Love Dare - Day 1
Yesterday, as I was browsing the SmartParenting (SP) forum, I read about the The Love Dare book that was supposed to be the companion to the movie Fireproof. I have been planning to watch the movie with Jovel for months but yesterday was the first time that I'd heard about the book.
Upon searching the Internet I found out that the main characters in the movie Fireproof, tried to rescue their marriage using the The Love Dare Book as a guide. Apparently, the book is a daily devotional guide for couples who would like to "fireproof" their marriages.
I'm currently reading it on Google Books and I've decided to take on the 40-day dare.
Married or not, all of us can think of one relationship in our life that needs 'fireproofing' - be it with our parents, siblings, co-workers or friends. I invite you to take the challenge. Today is Day 1.
The Love Dare - Day 1: Love is Patient
"The first part of this dare is fairly simple. Although love is communicated in a number of ways, our words often reflect the condition of the our heart. For the next day, resolve to demonstrate patience and to say nothing negative to your spouse at all. If temptation arises, choose not to say anything at all. It's better to hold your tongue than to say something you'll regret."
See you on Day 2.
